The Sew Unique Thread Journal class is an inspiring workshop where Stephanie will be sharing tips and techniques that will help you to create your very own thread journal. We will be learning the skills and techniques you need to add to your own project.

This workshop is ticketed at £35 and will be run in the Education Suite in Gallery Oldham.  Tickets can be bought here:

Don’t be put off by the commitment of creating a stitch a day, because this journal could be a weekly, monthly or even the occasional stitch. The beauty is, it’s yours and therefore, so are the rules! There will be plenty of time for questions on the day with our expert led workshop and hands on course.

This meet up will be suitable for brand spanking new or experienced stitchers. Just think of it as a creative, self care time out for yourself that will help you to create miniature stitched memories to treasure for years to come.⠀

Thread Journal starter kits are included in your ticket price, containing everything you need to create your very own thread journal hoop:

    – 100% cotton fabric

    – 8″ embroidery hoop

    – Embroidery floss

    – Two embroidery needles

    – Embroidery scissors

    – Hand stamped 100% cotton tote bag to keep your project and supplies together

    – Instructions on how to get started and a couple of techniques to get you well on your way diagrams and ideas collated into a 10 page.

Stephanie will be offering hands on & one-to-one demonstrations every step of the way, to ensure you feel happy & confident to continue hand embroidering beyond the workshop.

We will be aiming to complete a number of stitch techniques during the session, however, there is no rush! Embroidery is a great way to relax & unwind, so it is more important for you to take your time and enjoy.

  5. Turn your hand to origami

Comments Off on Turn your hand to origami

Inspired by our new exhibition On Paper we’ve been having some fun with paper. In the exhibition artists use paper in all kinds of ways, ripping it, burning it and sculpting it, so we decided to have a go at origami.

Why don’t you join us. All you need to make this origami dog are two square pieces of paper, then just copy what we do! Come down to Gallery Oldham this October half-term, take a look at the exhibition and have a go at crafting your own origami. Don’t forget to share your creations with us via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, #galleryoldham and @galleryoldham – we’d love to see them.

We have free family activities linked to our exhibitions taking place on Mon 28, Tues 29 and Wed 30 October from 1 – 4pm over October half-term. There is plenty going on for the kids, so why not call in?
