Reaching for the top

Eagle eyed visitors might have noticed the first signs of building work on our exciting capital project. Scaffolding has appeared along two sides of the Old Library & Art Gallery building to enable our contractors to fully survey the roof. There were several internal building surveys last year but for many this is the first visible sign that things are happening…

One feature of the building work over the next two years will be the restoration of many original features. Restoring the Victorian lantern roof will allow some areas of the Heritage and Arts Centre to be flooded with light.

As the project timetable is being firmed up watch this space for news of a special ‘closing party’. We are hoping to give all our visitors, friends and supporters one last chance to look around this much loved old building before the work really gets going. It should be an exciting day!

The Heritage & Arts Centre project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Stoller Charitable Trust. Full details of the plans and our original announcement are here.
