Early Years Adventure: Tram on Union Street

Welcome to this week’s early years adventure with the the team at Gallery Oldham. We’re delighted to bring you this

Murphy, Cliff; Tram on Union Street, Outside the Lyceum; Gallery Oldham; http://www.artuk.org/artworks/tram-on-union-street-outside-the-lyceum-233199

next activity inspired by the work of Cliff Murphy, an Oldham artist who is a firm favourite of staff and visitors alike. This week we’re focusing on Tram on Union Street.

The galleries collection holds two artworks by Murphy, both purchased from our biennial Oldham Open exhibition, which encourages artists and creatives from Oldham to submit art work to showcase the talents of locals. Tram on Union Street is the most recent. We loved Murphy’s work so much there are unframed prints and cards available in the gallery shop.

This week’s activity is brought to you by early years practitioner Isobel, she’s one of our regular early years artists but also works on our schools programme too! As well as a special guest support from her little boy Joe. Use our handy guide to create your very own Union Street inspired by Cliff Murphy’s artwork that you can find by visiting the Art UK website.

Can you explore big and small movements?

Can you build tunnels for your trucks and trams?

What can you see on your journey?

Who do you meet on your journey?

We hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s early years exploration. We would love to see your creations so don’t forget to send them through via our social media or emailing them to Dee : evad.ouldokojie@oldham.gov.uk
